Self-driving cars, also known as autonomous vehicles, are vehicles with the potential to operate with little to no human input. They use a combination of sophisticated sensors like cameras, radar, and lidar to perceive their surroundings. Powerful computers and software analyze this sensory data to navigate, make decisions, and control the car.
While not yet perfected, self-driving cars have the potential to revolutionise transportation. It could make roads safer by reducing human error, ease traffic congestion through better coordination, and provide mobility options for those who cannot drive themselves. However, technical challenges, legal considerations, and ethical dilemmas surrounding safety and responsibility remain to be addressed.
Autorobus vehicles use unique sensor architecture combining cameras, lidars, and radars to see their surroundings.
Our sensor placement provides an overlapping field of view and 360° coverage. This enables redundancy and for the vehicle to perceive in all directions equally well.
Our vehicles can see over 150m away in all directions—and even around corners. That means Autorobus vehicles can safely see what’s coming long before it’s anywhere close
Autorobus vehicles are built with a powerful compute system, as well as redundant backups, that house our proprietary software. This means our vehicles can make quick decisions to continue to drive safely.
Double wishbone suspension system uses two arms to control each wheel, allowing for independent movement and better handling. This design offers a smoother ride and more precise handling by minimising changes in tire angles during suspension travel. While more complex and expensive than some systems, it’s favoured for performance and high-end vehicles.
Four-wheel drive, or 4WD, sends power to all four wheels, improving traction on slippery roads or off-road. Unlike all-wheel drive, it’s often manually switched on for low-traction situations and may offer a lower gear for extra pulling power. This makes 4WD ideal for navigating mud, sand, and snow.
All four wheels are powered by independent hub motors which are programmable drive, so Autorobous can manoeuvre like crab walkand 360 degree rotations and 60 degree of turning.
Ride-hailing and taxi services: Companies like Uber, Lyft, and Motional are developing self-driving vehicles for ride-hailing and taxi services. This could make transportation more affordable and accessible, especially in areas with limited public transportation.
Delivery services: Companies like FedEx, UPS, and Amazon are exploring the use of self-driving cars for delivery. This could streamline delivery operations and reduce costs.
Logistics companies: Self-driving cars could be used to transport goods over long distances. This could improve efficiency and reduce costs in the logistics industry.
Public transportation agencies: Self-driving cars could be used to supplement existing public transportation systems. This could provide more transportation options in areas with limited service.
Personal use: In the future, self-driving cars could be used for personal transportation. This could make transportation safer and more convenient for everyone.
